Beautification

Flowers Garden on Sheffield
In 2010 CLVN Suzanne Franks and the Beautification Committee members will continue its work on sprucing up our neighborhood.  Corner gardens will be replenished with mulch and dead plants replaced. Neighbors close to Agassis will continue tending to the grounds around Agassiz School.  Central Lake View Merchants’ Association is now into their 4th year of their streetscape beautification efforts.

Parkway Improvements

Parkways and sidewalks belong to the city. In both cases there are City Ordiances that require property owners to keep their sidewalks clear of snow and their parkways maintained. If you are interested in taking the extra step by creating a parkway garden, or adding a decorative fence the City has established a landscape ordiance to guide you in your planning. Click on the (PDF Landscape Ord. Parkways Summary) for an overview.

The City of Chicago has published a list of recommended plants that will thrive in high traffic areas. These plants and shrub suggestions are provided below to assist you in considering greening options for your parkway.
