Below are the standing committees. Other committees are added as needed and if you would to become involved and do not see a committee that meets your interests/ qualification contact Diann Marsalek to learn what other groups have been formed marsalek@urbancom.net.
What The Committees Do
Executive Committee
Diann Marsalek, Chair. Members are the elected officers of CLVN and Area Directors. This committee meets at least 4 times a year to discuss goals and operations of the organization. Meetings are open to members.
Planning and Zoning
Marie Poppy /Terry Diamond Co-Chairs. The committee is intended to operate in an advisory role for the organization by investigating and analysing property owners zoning requests. The committee will offer a recommended course of action to the membership once the analysis is complete. The committee will monitor developments,(eg permits) protective covenants and provide guidance on orange rated buildings that may be considered for landmark status and /or preservation initiatives.
Beautification
Suzanne Frank,Chair. Suzanne and her team work on neighborhood beautification projects such as planting corner gardens, cleaning up the 3 playlots in our neighborhood in the spring and fall. The group works along with CLMA on major street scapes such as Sheffield and Belmont.
PARKS
As of December 2008 Weisman Park Advisory Council is no longer a committee within CLVN. It is a stand alone organization whose goal is to lead the capital campaign for the renovation of Weisman Park. The Advisory Council is registered with the Chicago Park District. The Parkways Foundation is the fiscal agent and a 501-3(c) nonprofit organization. Martin Playlots
Acts as the liasion between the Park District and the care of the playlots.
